Hub Transport Planning supports housing growth amid planning reforms

As the UK government’s revised planning laws pave the way for an accelerated housing supply, Birmingham-based SME, Hub Transport Planning is playing a crucial role in supporting the delivery of new developments across the country.
At the start of the year, Hub Transport Planning anticipated its busiest year yet as developers, agents, and land promoters seek to capitalise on the opportunity to advance new housing developments, increasing demand for expert transport solutions. Now, as the first quarter concludes, the company is actively involved in dozens of sites across the country at various stages of the development process with the potential to deliver over 16,000 new homes and significant commercial space.
Operating across the UK and with an extensive portfolio spanning large-scale urban extensions to smaller rural developments, the firm continues to enable sustainable and well-connected communities.
Hub has contributed to developments in key growth areas, including major urban expansions in the Midlands and North, key strategic housing sites in the South East, and regeneration projects spanning multiple counties. The scale and scope of Hub Transport Planning’s involvement include developments ranging from 250-home village extensions to large-scale schemes delivering over 1,000 homes. In the West Midlands and Warwickshire alone, the team are working on projects that could deliver over 2,500 new homes.
In addition to its residential work, Hub is also supporting the delivery of nearly 1,000 acres of commercial space, reflecting the continued demand for logistics and distribution centres in major hubs across the country.
Established in 2006, Hub’s specialist team is now regarded as a leading provider of innovative transport solutions for complex and sustainable challenges on residential and commercial sites.
James Parker, Hub Transport Planning’s Founding Director said: “Transport plays a fundamental role in delivering viable and sustainable new communities, and with this such a key priority of our new Government, we’re now working on submissions from Essex to Cheshire. Our expertise ensures that new developments are not only compliant with planning policies but also support active travel, public transport integration, and sustainable mobility.”
The breadth of Hub Transport Planning’s projects showcases its capability to navigate complex planning environments while promoting best practices in transport design. By collaborating with local authorities, developers, and stakeholders, the firm is helping to create well-connected places that meet the needs of future residents.
James Parker and Gerard McKinney established Hub to facilitate the delivery of quality advice to their clients, but without the restrictions that resulted from the structure of the major industry firms that they worked for at the time. They have since steadily grown the team to service sites across the UK and alongside planning submissions, regularly work on wider planning requirements including masterplans, feasibility assessments, travel and transport plans and WCHAR reports for local authorities. They also act as an Expert Witness for Planning Appeals.
